Vietnamese cooking classes

Vietnamese cuisine is a unique blend of tastes, ingredients and textures. Developed over hundreds of years, it has taken inspiration from other countries such as China and France. Why not try a Vietnamese cooking class at Lanterns so you can learn for yourself how to create a tasty, authentic meal to wow your friends? A morning trip to the market will allow you to purchase all the ingredients before returning to the restaurant where your experienced chef will supervise you putting them together to create a mouthwatering dish.

Nha Trang now has 4 Night Markets aimed primarily at visitors. There are 3 on Tran Phu St., the original, almost opposite the giant Lotus Statue on the beach. All offer souvenirs, clothing, jewelry and handicrafts, plus food and drinks. At times, live entertainment can be enjoyed. Drop in and get those gifts for friends and family back home, but remember to bargain to get the best price. Do it with good humor and a smile and it can be the most enjoyable part of the purchase.

Nha Trang has two international class golf courses, one at Vinpearl on Hon Tre Island and the other just to the south of town at Diamond Bay Resort. The Diamond Bay course, a par 72 and the most recent in town, is bordered by the mountains and the sea. Designed by golf course architect Andy Dye, it has a golf shop, driving range, 2 chipping greens and a 9 hole putting green. The par 71 course at Vinpearl, designed by IMG, boasts a sea view from each hole.

Nha Trang is internationally famous for its spas. There are many to be found across the city, ranging from small family run shops to the much grander affairs in the 4 and 5 star hotels. The choice is endless, and a visit to Nha Trang is not complete without getting a massage or special treatment at one of them. To take the guess work out of selecting a suitable spa, we suggest you choose from those advertising in this magazine and listed in the Spa Guide page 89.

It is difficult to know where to begin with this amazing man. A brilliant scientist, inventor, astronomer, untiring explorer, great thinker, and an adopted son of Vietnam. Yersin became synonymous with the famous Pasteur Institute, establishing branches in HCMC, Hanoi, Dalat and in Nha Trang. Well worth a visit to this museum to discover a life well lived, and one that contributed greatly to human kind. It sits alongside the Pasteur Institute on Tran Phu Street.

One of the attractions which separates Nha Trang from the rest of Vietnam is the mud baths. Any visit to the city is not complete until you have spent at least half a day at one of the three mud bath resorts. To the north is the Thap Ba Hot Springs and I-Resort, plus the 100 Egg Mudbath to the south. All offer a wonderful experience soaking in mineral rich, therapeutic liquid mud. Restaurants, massage and spa facilities, swimming pools, water slides, waterfalls and other services are also available.

This spectacular coastal ride is along the rugged Nui Chua peninsula between Cam Ranh Bay and Phan Rang. This entire promontory is part of the Nui Chua National Park, and has largely remained untouched by tourism. Recently opened however, is a brilliant coastal road, the ‘Vinh Hy-Binh Tien Pass’ that snakes around the headland, allowing access to the pristine beaches, jaw dropping scenery, lush forests, rock strewn streams, and fishing villages dotted along the rugged coastline. Heading south from Cam Ranh Bay, you take a left at the sign for Binh Tien.
